How to Remove Stickers From a Car Body

Branford drivers who need to learn how to remove stickers from a car will need these supplies:

  • Car washing soap
  • Hairdryer
  • Plastic card like a library card or membership card
  • Tree sap remover or Goo Gone Automotive
  • Clean, dry towels

Then follow these steps:

  1. Using the car wash soap, clean the entire sticker and the area around it.
  2. Turn the hair dryer on hot and hold it about two to three inches away from the sticker for a few seconds. Make sure to hit the entire area with heat while working from the inside out.
  3. Take your plastic card and gently push it under the sticker’s edge. When you see the adhesive residue starting to lift, you should be able to slowly peel the rest off. If the entire sticker can’t be removed it might be necessary to repeat the heating and peeling process.
  4. If you have a layer of residue left on your car after the sticker is gone and you’re wondering how to remove sticker residue from a car, don’t worry. This is an easy fix: just take your clean, dry cloth and some tree sap remover or Goo Gone Automotive and wipe with gentle pressure until the residue is gone.

How to Remove Stickers From a Car Window

If one of our dealer’s stickers is on your car’s window, we apologize and will work to remove it for you. If you have other stickers you’d like to remove from car windows in Middletown, here are the supplies you’ll need:

  • Razor blade
  • Dish soap and hot water
  • Clean, dry towels
  • Rubbing alcohol

Please be careful with the razor blade, and never use a razor blade on tinted windows. This method is only suitable for untinted windows.

  1. Use the razor blade to peel up a bit of the sticker. Remove it as cleanly as you can by hand.
  2. Using the dish soap and hot water mixture with a clean towel, rub the sticker residue until it begins to dissipate. This might remove the last of the sticker residue. If not, carefully scrape the residue off with your razor blade until it lifts.
  3. For particularly stubborn sticker or tape residue, rubbing alcohol often does the trick. Just soak a paper towel in the rubbing alcohol and scrub, using the razor blade intermittently. Clean the area with a clean, wet towel when the sticker and residue have been removed.
