Honda Accord Takes the Mid-Size Rivalry to Subaru Legacy and Pulls into Victory Lane

Sedans have come a long way from the early 20th century, in all shapes and sizes, through variations galore, and with trim lines and models coming and going with the times. Even entire automakers have surged and receded on the performance of a new sedan. One of that has remained true to its commitment to producing vehicles of reliability, capability, technological forward-thinking, and value that excels, however, is Honda, and our Westbrook, CT Honda dealership can't think of a better example of such than the flagship Honda Accord.

But others have lapped a contender or two to come out near the top as well, most notably Subaru and its storied Legacy four-door. Yet it's the new Accord, appearing today in its celebrated gamut of LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Touring trims, that remains ahead. How did Honda keep the momentum going?

For one, it completely redesigned Accord for the model year, from sleek, sloping fastback aesthetics to striking wheel well, prominent front end to piercing taillight. Legacy might have much to offer, but it only sees a few infotainment system, grille, style, and engine upgrades. This enabled Accord to weigh in longer of frame and wheelbase, lower in height, wider overall, and wider by front and rear track than Legacy, holding true to the mid-size sedan physique. That extended to ride quality, too, with Accord offering more horses under the hood as well as a torquier feel than Legacy, making for a drive just as energetic as it is enjoyable. Factor in a full Honda Sensing® suite of safety features, standard throughout the new Accord lineup, to Subaru's EyeSight® driver-assist technologies coming only optionally, and it's clear that our Honda sedan remains the safer choice.

You can look forward to plenty more to distinguish it from the new Legacy, too. Feel free to peruse our comprehensive and objective comparison in full, right here on the Westbrook Honda, and when it's time to step into the driver's seat for the experience, you're welcome to pay us a visit here on Flat Rock Place. We look forward to taking you for a spin!
